Dry Skin – Home Remedies For Dry Skin

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Use a moisturizer properly and most dry skin problems will go away.

When you buy moisturizer from the shop, make sure that you´re using one which has ingredients that are known to treat dry skin. However, if you want to do it all at home, it is also possible to find home remedies for dry skin right in your very own kitchen.

Here are some things that you can do to remedy dry skin problems be it on the face or the whole body.

Home Remedies For Dry Skin On Face

This needs to be a process and not just a one-time thing so bear this in mind when you are trying to treat your dry skin.

If you have extremely dry face, the first thing that you can do is to use a face mask 3-4 times a week. To make your own face mask, do the following:

Face Mask For Dry Skin No. 1

Ingredients:
One Small Egg
1 tablespoon of honey
1 teaspoon of olive oil or almond oil

Mix all the ingredients together, then whisk it with a fork. Stop when all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. The mixture should look a little bit sticky. Now dip your fingers in the mixture and cover your whole face with it. Include your neck as well as the back of your neck.

Leave it one for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, wash it off with water.

After doing this, make sure you use a good moisturizer for dry skin.

Face Mask For Dry Skin No. 2

I have a friend who uses this every day! (yes everyday!) and she thinks it’s her secret to super soft and great skin.

Ingredients
3 tablespoon greek yoghurt
1 Vitamin E Oil (buy vitamin e in capsule form, cut it and squeeze the oil into the yoghurt)

Same as the instructions for face mask no. 1, mix them all together, apply to your skin and leave it on for 30 minutes.

Home Remedies For Dry Skin On Feet And Hands

For some reason, I always find dry skin on feet and hands much more difficult to remedy than the face. It’s a little bit tricky but it’s not impossible.

If you want your feet and hands to have that special glow and smooth look, here are some things that you can do. You can also use this for your whole body.

The first thing you need to do is to exfoliate. Exfoliation makes way for new skin cells and old dry skin to go away. I often find that this alone makes a world of difference. The best time to exfoliate your feet is while you’re in the bath. Alternatively you can soak your feet in lukewarm water for 5-10 minutes and then exfoliate.

To make your own exfoliation mixture, get about 3 tablespoons of oatmeal and mix it with honey and olive oil. Apply this on to your feet and gently rub it to get rid of old skin. You can immediately rinse your feet right after some gentle rubbing but I prefer to leave it on for 10-15 minutes to give the honey some time to penetrate the skin.

Again, after you´re done with this exfoliation, don´t forget to use special lotion or feet/hand cream.

You can do this every day for a week if you have really dry feet and then maybe 2-3 times a week after that.

Another thing that you can do which I find to be extremely effective is to cover the feet with olive oil, Petroleum Jelly or almond oil just before you go to sleep. Make sure you use socks to help seal the moisture in.

As you can see, it is possible to make home remedies for dry skin right in the comfort of your own home.

If this works for you, do comment in the section below. Or if you know of any other remedy for dry skin, please share it with the rest of the community.

What Is Best For Dry Skin On Face?

in Anti Aging Skin Care

This is the first of a series of articles on How To Make Dry Skin On Face Go Away. This series include the following topics:

Dry skin

I can haz moisturizer?

Dry flaky skin can be a big morale dampener. Good if the dry patches are on places we can actually hide but when it’s right there on our face for everyone to see, it can be such a pain.

The good news is you’re not the only person in the world who has to deal with dry skin on the face and an even better news is that more often than not, this is a problem that you can get rid of.

Truth is most dry skin problems whether it be around your mouth or your eyes or your cheeks is caused by your lifestyle. Change the way you treat your skin and you’ll make the dry skin on your face go away.

Here are some things to have a careful look at and find out if you’re doing anything that may very possibly cause your dry skin problems.

Dry Skin On Face Solutions – What Could Be Causing Your Dry Skin Problems?

Evaluate Your Lifestyle

Unbeknownst to some people, there are things that we do that stop our skin from looking healthy and glowing.

Hot baths and showers are a very common culprit. Hot water is just not good for your skin at all. It strips the oil that traps the moisture in your skin leaving your skin dry and flaky.

If you have very dry skin and you take hot showers, I say this is the first thing you need to rectify. Refrain from hot baths if you can and opt for the shower. If you must have a hot shower, don’t spend too long a time in it.

One thing that I do especially in the wintertime, is to wash my hair on the sink first and then have a quick shower. This means I don’t expose my skin to the hot water for a very long time.

Moreover, refrain from using harsh soaps. This too is a big contributing factor to dry skin.

Evaluate Your Environment

If you don’t take very hot showers and yet still have dry skin patches, the next thing to consider is your environment.

Low humidity areas can be drying to the skin. So is winter as we all know.

Obviously, we can’t change the humidity levels of the place where we live, but we can make it a bit better for our skin by using some gadgets that bring back the moisture.

The most common thing to use in low humidity areas is a humidifier. So invest in a good one for your house. This greatly helps with the condition of your skin. If you can afford it, have the humidifier on all the time when you’re in your house.

Use Moisturizer Properly To Make Dry Skin On Face Go Away

For any person with dry skin, a moisturizer is a must. But you must know exactly how to properly use it or it will not work the way it should.

The best time to use a moisturizer is right after a shower. At this time, the pores are still open and there’s also enough moisture in your skin for the moisturizer to work with.

If you have dry skin on face, find heavier moisturizer made of ingredients that are known to greatly help with flaky dry skin.

Make Sure It’s Not A Medical Condition

A very small percentage of people with dry skin on face are caused by medical conditions or drugs.

When it comes to the face, some topical skin treatment can cause dry skin. Some known drying products include tretinoin or retinol. Some antihistamines can also be drying to the skin.

Also, some medical conditions such as diabetes, malnutrition and low levels of thyroid hormone can be very drying as well.

Oily Skin – How To Get Rid Of Oily Skin

in Anti Aging Skin Care

how to clean up oil spillsOily skin can be a tricky problem. Unlike dry skin which is far easier to treat, oily skin needs tender loving care and attention.

How To Get Rid Of Oily Skin During The Day

Oily skin can be a pain during the day. Your make up doesn’t last very long and your face shines like it was covered in fat even if you’ve just washed it an hour before.

Don’t lose faith. It is possible to get rid of oily skin during the day. Simply do the steps below as part of your daily skin care routine.

Use A Gentle Cleanser

This is the first step. A good cleanser wipes away excess oil and leaves your face clean. It also helps eliminate oil buildup which cause enlarged pores, blackheads, white heads or acne.

Always use a gentle cleanser. Refrain from using anything that can be drying to your skin. A dry skin will overcompensate and produce even more oil — strange I know, but welcome to the world of oily skin!

Remember to use lukewarm water when washing your face. This gets rid of oil much more efficiently than cold water.

Apply A Face Toner

Toner is not always a recommended skin care routine. However, if you’ve got oily skin, it is.

A good toner helps with reducing oil secretion and in bringing back the skin’s ph. Some people swear by toners which contain alpha hydrolic acid but if your skin reacts badly to these ingredients, there are a host of other toners that are as good such as Burt’s Bees Rosewater Toner for mature skin or the Neutrogena Alcohol free toner.

Moisturize

People who have oily skin usually refrain from using moisturizers afraid that it will worsen their condition. However, I find that this does more bad than good.

For many people I have talked with, nothing has made a greater impact on their oily face than including a moisturizer in their skin care routine. Apply this thinly and gently and this should do wonders on your face.

Make sure you buy moisturizer that is formulated for oily skin. Steer clear of oil-based products. Instead, go for oil-free or water based ones.

Do these three steps every day and you should get rid of oily skin.

Now On To Make Up For Oily Skin

Make up also plays a major part in curbing oily skin during the day. Here are some things to take note of

Use a Good Primer or base

Refrain from using foundation and other make up which are creamy. Instead use powder-based products.

A good mattifier can do wonders on your oily face. Have a look at the Murad Control Mattifier which also has SPF protection

Don’t forget to use sunscreen. If you are concerned of the over all health of your skin this is one thing you really need to do no matter what your skin type is.

Try The Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)

You may find this very strange. But the Oil Cleansing Method has helped a lot of people who suffer from oily skin. So why not give it a try.

The Oil Cleansing Method works on the assumption that oil dissolves oil. Thus, by applying a combination of skin-friendly oil on to your face, all impurities are washed away.

Here are the steps

It looks so harmless1) Mix equal portions of three oils (30% each). The following oils are good for oily skin

  • castor oil
  • almond oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Joboba oil
  • Avodado oil
  • olive oil (this tend to be a bit heavy. So if you have very oil skin, use less of this in the mixture)

2) Put enough of this mixture and apply it gently on your face. Then massage your face very gently too

3) Now get a terry washcloth and put it under very hot water. Make sure the water is not too hot so that it won’t scald your skin.

Rinse all water off the washcloth.

Note: Alternatively, you can use a face steamer. You can also steam your face using a basin with hot water and with a towel over your head.
Remember not to scald yourself!

4) Now cover your face with the hot terry washcloth. Leave it for a couple minutes until it cools off.

5) Lastly, wipe the oil off using the same washcloth.

Note: You can also rub a very thin layer of this mixture on your face as a moisturizer. As to how often to do OCM, it really depends on you. You can use it daily or once a week. Although after the results, you’ll probably want to use it as often as you can.

Definitely give this treatment method a try. Many people who have tried this method swears that it really does get rid of oily skin problems.

Best Procedures For Non Invasive Face Lift Treatment

in Anti Aging Skin Care

thermage

Thermage Treatment

There are many ways to maintain one’s youthful appearance.

Some choose to go under the knife to get rid of the dreaded tell-tale signs of ageing while others prefer to go a more conservative route— non-invasive face lift treatment.

Types of Non Invasive Facial Procedures

Laser Resurfacing

This is a relatively new procedure which claims to reduce facial wrinkles and skin blemishes such as acne scars and age spots. The technique involves directing short, concentrated light energy at problem areas in a scanning pattern. The laser removes skin layer by layer.

The usual target areas for laser resurfacing are the fines lines around the eyes and forehead, acne scars, or skin which remains responsive after a facelift. However, there are cases when this procedure is unfavorable such as when you have dark skin or you are suffering from active acne.

This technique is also not effective against stretch marks. The recovery time from laser resurfacing is up to two weeks.

Possible complications of the procedure includes the appearance of Milia, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, reappearance of a cold sore, bacterial infections, and swelling.

Other names for this procedure are laser peel, laser vaporization, and lasabrasion.

Botox

is indicated to erase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox treatments use minute amounts of Botulinum toxin which is injected into specific facial muscles, particularly around the eyebrows and near the corners of the eyes. The toxin works to relax the muscle thus softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The effect can last for several months.

Botox treatments are not indicated for lines around the mouth because the muscles in this area are used for talking and eating. Reported side effects include pain and bruising, redness, itching, nausea, and temporary muscle weakness. Since botox treatments make use of a toxin, there is a possibility that the toxin may spread to other areas and produce botulism-like signs thus it is very important to receive botox treatments only from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Chemical Peel

This non-invasive face lift treatment uses glycolic, carbolic, lactic, or salicylic acid which can hasten the removal of dead skin cells and unveil new skin which is free from fine lines, photo-aging, acne scars, age spots, and dull skin.

Skin which has just undergone chemical peeling may appear to be red and scaling usually takes place within 3-7 days. If you have just undergone a chemical peel, you should use sunscreen and if possible, avoid any prolonged sun exposure.

Photo Rejuvenation

This is a minimally-invasive procedure designed to treat only problem areas while leaving the surrounding tissues undamaged. This procedure aims to rejuvenate skin which has been damaged by years of exposure to the sun and poor skin care habits.

Most photo rejuvenation procedures are performed on the face. However it can also be used to treat the chest, neck, and hands. Skin conditions which can be treated by photo rejuvenation include hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and sun-damaged skin. Compared to other non-surgical techniques, photo rejuvenation does not require a recovery time.

Photo rejuvenation involves delivery of different light intensities to the skin using very specific settings. Once the tissues absorb the light energy, production of collagen is stimulated. The new collagen can increase the skin’s elasticity and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Redness associated with rosacea have also been reported to be reduced dramatically. The only limitation with this non-invasive face lift procedure to photo rejuvenation is that it cannot be used on those with excessive sagging skin.

Bruising and redness may be present but is only temporary. Recovery period may be minimal to non-existent.

Your doctor may recommend using sunscreen and never to use harsh skin cleansers.
Each photo rejuvenation procedure can cost up to $500 depending on whether your doctor’s practice is situated in an urban, suburban, or rural area.

Thermage

This makes use of radio frequency energy to heat collagen thereby encourage the production of new collagen. Thermage is often indicated to tighten the jowls, jaw line, forehead, and erase mandolin lines around the mouth.

Treatment may last for 2-3 hours and the most commonly reported reactions include mild swelling that may exist for a week, burns and scarring, pain, and skin discoloration. The side effects usually depend on the frequency used and treatment setting.

Pelleve

This is the non-surgical treatment of choice to eliminate “crow’s feet” in the area around the eye. This non-invasive face lift treatment has also proven to be effective in getting rid of frown lines above the eye brows. Pelleve does not use a laser; rather it uses advanced radiowave technology which can heat the deep layers of the skin without causing damage to the epidermis. The heat causes the collagen present in the skin to contract and consequently tighten. The procedure is also said to boost production of new collagen within the skin tissues.

A Pelleve procedure is relatively short—a full treatment can only take an hour. There is no downtime and no adverse side effects have been reported after the procedure.

Ultherapy

is a non-invasive form of cosmetic procedure which is designed to correct loose, sagging skin of the face and neck and regain a more youthful appearance. The procedure, which uses medical grade ultrasound technology, targets the deep layers of the skin and does not cause any damage to the outer layers. The heat produced by the device stimulates the skin to produce new collagen which will replenish the depleted amounts of collagen in the skin tissues. There is no downtime after ultherapy is performed.

Fluid Face Lift Or Liquid Face Lift

This non invasive face lift treatment uses various injections which are used on specific areas of the face. The substance which is injected acts as a muscle relaxant which in effect can iron out the lines and wrinkles of the face. The effects usually last only for about 8 months.

A session can cost up to $500 or more. There are some people who have undergone the treatments and complained of experiencing numbness in certain areas of the face. Liquid fillers are unable to correct excessive sagging and is only effective in cases where skin aging manifestations are mild.

Dermarollers

are also called skin rollers, or microneedle rollers. These are small hand-held rollers which are fitted with micro-surgical steel needles designed to penetrate the inner surface of the skin and stimulate production of collagen and elastin without any surgery.

This non invasive face lift treatment uses a dermaroller which is also called skin needling. Studies have shown that the use of dermarollers as an anti-aging procedure have produced favorable results particularly in minimizing wrinkles, fine lines, and other tell-tale signs of aging.

Some people who have tried several non-surgical treatment for skin ageing reports that dermarollers are better than chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and dermabrasion, thus they consider dermarollers as the best non-invasive face lift treatment.

Compared to other non invasive face lift treatment which should be performed by a doctor or dermatologist, skin needling can be done at home at your convenience.

Effective Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Blackheads

in Anti Aging Skin Care

As I’ve mentioned on a previous article, removing blackheads is a process. Follow all the steps mentioned in the article and your blackheads will be a thing of the past.

I also mentioned some products to use when performing the steps, but if you don’t have the budget right now, you can easily make face cream and scrubs using ingredients at home.

Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Blackheads

1) Oatmeal and Honey

Oatmeal and honey combination is usually recommended as a good exfoliator. Some dermatologists say though that oatmeal can be harsh to your face (as is apricot or other seed-based granules).

At any rate, I see a lot of people who do use this and are happy with the results. So it is up to you whether to try this or not.

I have tried this once, but I had a rash probably due to an old oatmeal that I was using. I haven’t had the courage to try it again.

Instructions: To make this, put equal parts of ground oatmeal, honey and egg white and mix. Then apply to your problem areas. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes and then massage gently. Wash off

You can use this as an exfoliator which is No. 3 of the Steps to remove Blackheads

2) Baking Soda And Water

Here’s another recipe using the “magical” baking soda.

Instructions: Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water. This makes a thick paste. Apply it on your face and then gently massage on problem areas. Wash off.

You can use this as an exfoliator which is No. 3 of the Steps to Remove Blackheads

3) Honey and Natural Yogurt

Honey and yoghurt are my two favorite ingredients when it comes to face care. They’re good moisturizers and toners. Both of these ingredients also have antibacterial and antifungal properties so they’re effective as mask after removing blackheads (Step 5).

Instructions: Mix 2 tablespooon of yoghurt and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix well. Apply on your face, covering it with this mask. Leave it on for 5 minutes or so. Then wash.

4) Egg And Honey

Egg is an excellent mask. It’s rich in Vitamin A which is said to greatly help in lessening acne and getting rid of blackheads.

Use this as a mask (Step 5 of how to remove blackheads). You can also use this about 3x-4x a week for smoother healthier skin.

I’ve read about some people who say they just regularly used one of the recipes here to get rid of blackheads. Maybe so. But I suggest that you actually do this as part of the steps to get rid of blackheads as stated in the previous article.

Now that you know how to remove blackheads using home remedies, there’s no more excuse not to be able get rid of your blackheads now.

Blackhead Problems – How To Remove Blackheads On The Nose

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Learning how to remove blackheads on the nose is merely a temporary solution to a skin problem. A healthy lifestyle and a good diet is your best bet to stop suffering from blackhead problems.

ABiore pore stript any rate, you can get rid of the blackheads that you have now by using blackhead removers. But before you learn how to take out blackheads on nose, face, or chin, remember the following tenets.

Be as gentle as possible. Refrain from using very harsh chemicals or instruments that can damage your skin.

Avoid secondary infection. Make sure you have clean hands when you’re doing the instructions below

Best Way To Remove Blackheads On Nose

1. Clean Your Face. Before you do anything else, wash your face with a good cleanser. You can use the face cleanser your normally use. If you have oily skin, I recommend Neutrogena Rapid Clear Oil-Eliminating Foaming Cleanser

2. Steam your face – Don’t forget this step. Many don’t do this, but it does do wonders. It makes the job a hundred times easier. Steaming your face opens up the pores and makes it softer as well.

You can get one of those facial sauna steamers for about $20. However, this is not necessary. You can easily steam your face at home over the sink or a basin. Put in hot water (but not too hot that it will burn you) in the container. Then cover your head with a towel. Do this for about 5-10 minutes, depending on how much time you have (5 minutes is usually enough for me)

3. Exfoliate – Now that your pores are ready, use a good exfoliating product. You can use one with round granules or you can apply a chemical peel with alpha hydroxy acid.

When trying to remove blackheads on the nose, I particularly like Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle. It’s got glycolic acid which is the best among the AHAs and it’s also gentle enough to be used every day. A cheaper alternative for an exfoliating scrub is the Clean and Clear Blackhead eraser scrub which costs about $4.

Also remember to properly exfoliate. Massage the cream gently to properly prepare it for the next steps.

4. Use A Blackhead Remover – As much as possible, never use your fingernails to get out blackheads on your nose. This could scar your skin or at the very worst cause an infection.

There are a lot of blackhead removers that you can get from your local store for about $5.

When doing this, make sure you are in a bright place so you can clearly see all the visible blackheads on your nose.

5. Use Antiseptic – After you’ve taken out all the blackheads, clean your hands and then use an antiseptic cream.. This helps eliminate the possibility of any secondary infection. Any product with tea tree oil works well for me.

Alternatively, you can use a face mask with antibacterial properties.

6. Lastly, apply a face cream or face serum. There’s MyChelle Clear Skin Serum, which is all organic and is really really good as well. However, I also find that cream with sulfur are also good and are usually a lot cheaper.

After performing these steps on how to remove blackheads, most of your blackheads should be gone. If there are some left, wait a couple of days or so and then do these steps again.

But remember, that if you don’t change your diet or lifestyle, the likelihood of new blackheads coming out again is very high.

Note: Remember that using AHA based products can make your skin very sensitive to the sun. So don’t forget to use sunscreen!

Skin Care – Vitamins Good For Skin Repair

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Aging and exposure to environmental extremes take a toll on our skin. Aside from protecting the skin from the sun’s UV rays and not smoking, a healthy diet that contains the vitamins which are good for skin repair completes the prerequisites for achieving young, radiant skin.

Best Vitamins For Skin RepairThe role of vitamins in keeping the hair and skin healthy and young-looking can never be undermined. Our body needs to be nourished daily to ensure that adequate levels are present in the body for repair and maintenance of tissues and cells.

Aside from oral preparations, vitamins are also incorporated in topical products such as creams and lotions which can be applied directly on the skin’s surface.

What Vitamins Are Good For The Skin?

There are many vitamins that are good for skin repair which abound in nature but when it comes to vitamins for skin elasticity and healthy glowing skin, an elite group of essential vitamins are the ones which are best known in keeping the skin supple and young-looking.

For acne sufferers, Vitamin A maintains the skin’s moisture balance while regulating sebum production. Vitamin A is essential in maintaining the strength and durability of skin tissues thus preventing skin from sagging.

Vitamin C, on the other hand, is known to boost the production of collagen, which is a structural component of the skin layers and other important body tissues. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant that boosts tissue repair and regeneration. It is an excellent exfoliant, preserving the skin’s glow and radiance.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that scavenges free radicals known to damage body cells. It is also associated with cell regeneration and repair.

Vitamin K is an important component of eye creams to target the dark circles under the eyes. These dark circles are caused by leaking capillaries under the thin skin under the eyes. Vitamin K is believed to promote a constricting effect on the leaking capillaries and help banish those dark circles.

day 100 - you're losing, you're losing your vitamin CThe B-complex group of vitamins is effective in achieving and maintaining a healthy skin tone. They work together to fight off the damage brought about by environmental pollution, stress, and exposure to the UV rays of the sun. They work synergistically with other essential vitamins to keep your body healthy and your skin looking young and good.

In order to achieve the optimum effects of a skin rejuvenation regimen, consumption of adequate vitamins and minerals is very important. However, one should bear in mind that taking in megadoses of vitamins does not provide more benefits compared to consuming the recommended doses. Overconsumption may also pave the way for toxic reactions. It is for this very reason that one should never exceed safety limits.

Vitamin-enriched creams have created waves in the beauty industry. Studies have shown that vitamins which are taken orally can’t provide a hundred percent answer to the vitamin needs of the body. Thus, makers of beauty products have manufactured vitamin-enriched beauty creams and lotions to achieve maximum benefits.

Vitamins, whether taken orally or applied topically, work wonders on your skin. A properly nourished skin reveals the beauty of your skin from within.

How To Reduce Pores On Face Naturally – Minimize Pores On Face At Home

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Large pores on face can greatly affect the way we look and feel. This is why knowing how to minimize pores  on face can help so much in making our skin look smooth and glowing.

Pores[Day252]*Here are some things that you can do at home to reduce pores on face, nose and cheeks. Remember that like many skin care routine, minimizing pores is a process and something that you have to regularly do to stop the pores from getting enlarged again.

Things To Do To Minimize Pores On Face At Home

Exfoliate To Reduce Pores On Face

When pores get clogged up, they tend to look bigger than they actually are. This can be caused by excess sebum, dirt buildup or the use of comedogenic creams.

This is why the first step to minimizing large pores is exfoliation. This gets rid of dead skin cells that could be clogging up your pores as well as eliminate blackheads which cause the pores to look bigger as well.

Make sure you use a good exfoliation scrub. I personally like Olay Regenerist Detoxifying scrub.

Also remember that too much exfoliation can be drying and harsh to the skin, so don’t overdo it. Also, if you have acne or skin lesions, a scrub is not advisable at all. Instead, use a face wash with alpha hydroxy acid instead.

Use Toner To Minimize Pores On Face

Using a toner is a somewhat touchy subject in the skincare industry. Experts can’t agree among themselves whether toner is necessary or not.

Here’s what I think. The toners that companies used to make were very drying to the skin. And it was a problem then. But in recent years, toners have become a lot more skin-friendly. Find one that gets back your skin’s ph balanced and you should be ok.

However, different skin react differently all the time. So if you find that your skin gets too dry when you use it, then by all means, stop using toner.

I don’t use toner every day. But when I notice my pores look more enlarged than usual, I include toner in my skin care routine for 1-2 weeks. (I have normal skin)

Face Mask To Minimize Pores On Face Naturally

323 flakyAnother way to clean the face and get rid of dirt buildup is by using a face mask. There are many deep cleansing masks in the market that are great for cleaning up pores.

Before you use a face mask, try to steam your face beforehand. This opens up the pores making it easier for the mask to remove all that excess oil.

It’s also very easy to make your own face mask at home. Simply combine equal amounts of yoghurt and oats. Apply it straight on to your face and leave it for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, gently rub your face and then wash.. Makes a big difference with how your skin looks and feels.

Minimizing Cream Or Foundation With Silicone

This is just cosmetic but makes a big difference with how you look and feel. They’re temporary but they are good alternatives while you’re actually waiting for your pores to get back to normal.
Silicone in these products, cover up the pores and make them less visible. Then they go away after you wash them.

The Perricone Pore Refining Concealer is one sample of these concealers.

Other Products To Reduce Pores On Face

Aside from creams, masks and toners, there are other products to minimize pores which are effective as well.. Some of them are not very cheap, but many people swear by them.

Reviva Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Hyaluronic acid is one of the safest ingredients in beauty products.

Although there are few research to support the claims of Hyaluronic acid serum as the fountain of youth, many people who do use it report positive results.

Many customers who use Hyaluronic acid serum report that they immediately feel their skin becoming very moisturized and that their face feel firm the whole day.

Note: Many hyaluronic acid serum work best when used under a cream or a moisturizer. Another thing that you can do to maximize the effect is to buy hyaluronic acid serum with Matrixyl 3000.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum Reviews

Here are some of the popular products containing this ingredient. Read these Hyaluronic acid serum reviews to help you decide which one to buy.

Reviva Hyaluronic Acid

Reviva's Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Reviva Hyaluronic Acid Serum

This is a popular hyaluronic acid serum and is an excellent moisturizer. It works well and is reasonably cheap.

This absorbs very quickly and is recommended to be used under a cream.

It leaves the skin very hydrated and you feel your skin become firm right after application.

Buy this one and you’ll keep buying it for sure.

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Timeless Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Timeless Skin Care Hyaluronic Acid Serum

If you want nothing but pure hyaluronic acid, this one fits the bill.

There’s nothing but great reviews for this serum.

It works well on the face, but you can use it even on your body or your hair.

Great product to get smooth shiny legs, too!

Derma E

Derma E With Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Derma E Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Derma E has a few products with hyaluronic acid as the main ingredient. You can choose from a day cream, a night cream, a rehydrating serum and an eye cream.

The rehydrating serum is a little bit more expensive than the two above.

This is another product that has avid followers. Customers usually try this and then stick to it.

Be aware that the consistency of this product doesn’t feel like a serum at all, but more “liquidey”.

But it still works just as well.

Skinceuticals B5 Gel

Skinceuticals B5 Gel With Hyaluronic Acid

Skinceuticals Hydrating b5 Gel

If you’re willing to splurge a little bit more on your hyaluronic acid serum, then the Skinceuticals Hydrating b5 Gel is a popular product with high end price.

As the name suggests, this serum has b5 which helps with tissue repair.

Anything from Skinceuticals I like, and this one comes very highly recommended.

However, if you don’t have the budget for it,  don’t worry as many consumer reports of the cheaper options mentioned on this page work very well too.

What Is Hydroquinone Cream And Is It Safe?

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Hydroquinone cream is considered an effective ingredient in a lightening or whitening cream. It gets rid of freckles and sun spots and significantly whitens the skin. It is used in many skin bleaching cream and comes in different concentrations.

How Safe Is Hydroquinone Cream?

This is a very delicate topic among many professionals. For one, hydroquinone cream over the counter is available in the United States, so it can’t be all bad, right?

There have been studies however showing that hydroquinone itself is not safe for topical use, and it is in fact, banned in some countries. In fact, in 2006, the FDA actually proposed a ban on products containing hydroquinone as it is shown to be a potential cancer-causing ingredient.

Up until now, this ban has not taken place. Yet it does not change the fact, that there is a possibility of hazardous side effects if you use this cream regularly.

Do I Have A Choice? What other Skin Bleaching Cream Can I Use?

Hydroquinone Cream may be potentially dangerous but there are other ingredients that can still do a good job when it comes to skin lightening.

One of the products I personally recommend is Meladerm Skin Whitening from Civant Skin Care. All the skin bleaching products they sell do not contain any hydroquinone cream at all and they even have a new line of paraben-free products.

This should really be the only way to go when you’re thinking of skin bleaching products. You should make sure that it is as safe as possible for you as well. Go for a safer product. After all, you’ll probably be using this bleaching cream for an extended period of time to get maximum results.

Now in saying this, I know that some of you are still considering using this product. After all, it is still an ingredient in many skin lightening products, right?

So if you do plan to use this cream, then make sure you are using it as it is meant to be used.

How To Use Hydroquinone Cream

First of all, go for the lowest hydroquione cream concentration.

Secondly, remember that hydroquinone is not really meant to be used as a lotion or as a bleaching cream. It is supposedly for erasing dark spots. So it should only be applied to the spots that you want to get rid of and not all over your body.

Thirdly, proponents of hydroquinone cream always say that you shouldn’t use this for an extended period of time. In fact, if you use this too long and too much, you could possibly get even more pigmentation.

Hyaluronic Acid Products Side Effects

in Anti Aging Skin Care

Hyaluronic acid is one ingredient that is very gentle. In fact, many of these topical creams are highly recommended for sensitive skin. At any rate, there are rare cases of Hyaluronic acid side effects that you might want to know if you plan to include this ingredient in your skin care routine..

First of all, be aware that many of the anti aging cream nowadays contain topical hyaluronic acid. This ingredient is considered very safe and is not known to have any bad side effects. Depending on which product you’re using, the percentage of Hyaluronic acid vary widely. If you have extremely sensitive skin, go for a cream with much lesser concentration.

Secondly, hyaluronic acid side effects may happen when it is injected. Hyaluronic acid this way is used as a filler to plump up the face and minimize wrinkles. It is important to know that this is considered a safer method for getting rid of those fine lines around the eye area as well as to plump up the lips.

However, there could be some side effects when injected. There are rare cases of people sufferring from itchiness, swelling, tenderness and bruising. This is reported to cease after a few days. To minimize this side effect, refrain from taking any aspirin or Vitamin e supplements a few days before and after the injection as these can decrease the chance of these side effects from happening.

Like many ingredients in the skin care industry, there are opposing opinions as to the long term effects of using this product.

However, the general opinion of Hyaluronic acid by many experts is very favorable. And truth be told, no one really knows the long term effects of many of the creams we use as the whole anti aging concept in skin care is fairly new.

My research so far shows that Hyaluronic acid side effects on skin are very minimal at most. And that most people, have noticed only the benefits and no side effects.

Best Tips – Wrinkle Treatment Options

in Anti Aging Skin Care

There are so many wrinkle treatment options available these days. From botox to ipl facial, the choices that you have are many.

Every doctor, every patient will always have an opinion as to what’s the best. This article, however, will cover just a few of the wrinkle treatment options that many of the site’s readers have been asking about lately.

Wrinkle Treatment Options – Non Surgical

IPL Facial or IPL Photo Facial Rejuvenation

An IPL Facial treatment is used to help get rid of unwanted birthmarks, skin discoloration, sun damage and unwanted hair. A successful IPL facial rejuvenation leaves you with a smooth, clear, porcelain looking complexion.

It gets rid of dark spots and uneven pigment and makes your face look younger and fresher. The process of an IPL facial also boosts collagen production, which in turn smooths out fine lines and wrinkles.

Laser Face Lift or Laser Skin Resurfacing

A lot of people looking for non-surgical wrinkle treatment options are excited about laser face lift or laser skin resurfacing.

This procedure, as the term implies, uses laser to get rid of premature wrinkles and especially lines on sensitive areas such as the eyes and lips as well as the forehad and cheeks.

Remember that this doesn’t do exactly the same thing as a surgical face LIFT which pulls your skin upwards to become taut. It simply minimizes fine lines and wrinkles and gets rid of facial spots.

People who are much older or have very deep wrinkles may want to do this treatment together with a surgical face lift, if desired.

Wrinkle Fillers

This is a wrinkle treatment option that injects a filler into your skin to make it plumper and fuller. There are many different wrinkle fillers available these days and which filler to use for yourself is usually based on your area of concern. It is therefore important that you get yourself evaluated by a suitable healthcare provider.

Wrinkle fillers are marketed under various brand names such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Artefil, and Perlane among others.

Botox

You probably don’t need any more introduction on Botox. This has become such a common wrinkle treatment that there are even monthly botox parties (not advisable) in some cities.

Always remember that no matter how common it is, it is best to go to a qualified practitioner if you want it done.
